Hrant Dink`s court case is blocked
Ararat News-Publishing (ANP) – Brussels, Roni Alasor - Fiona Lorin, 19/01/ 2010 – Today is the third anniversary of the murder of the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink in Turkey, the investigation is still on its starting point. According to the joint attorneys of the Hrant Dink murder case Fethiye Çetin and Deniz Tuna, the assassination will not be solved by the inquiries carried out till the present.
The editor-in-chief of the weekly Armenian Agos newspaper, Hrant Dink was killed in front of the newspaper's office in Istanbul on 19 January 2007. There years later the lawyers of Dink's family denounce the lack of cooperation by the Turkish juridical and security authorities.
Dink`s family lawyers Cetin and Tuna insist that all the events before and after the murder should to be examined, and especially the "determination not to protect Hrant Dink although it was known that he was going to be killed and by treating the murder suspect like a hero”. According the lawyers, the National Intelligence Agency (MIT), the Gendarmerie and the police have main responsibility in the murder case.
Advocate Fethiye Cetin declared that: "There are several issues that should be evaluated altogether and: the people who, together with the triggerman, made Dink an open target during the preparation period of the murder; the people who isolated him from society; the elements of the plan in the media, the positions of the members of the judiciary in this campaign; the people who facilitated the murder by not fulfilling their duty. Their roles in this criminal action and the relation to the organization should be investigated".
Lawyers Cetin and Tuna are convinced that "the judicial authorities of the General Staff Presidency, security units of the government spokespeople and paramilitary forces from the media and all official and political people" were involved and "each bear responsibility for Dink's murder since they were not able to prevent the murder and to find the real perpetrators".
All the criminal complaints which the lawyers submitted about officials of the Trabzon Police, the Trabzon Gendarmerie and the Istanbul Police at the Istanbul Chief Prosecution were rejected by the authorities because of "lack of jurisdiction" or "lack of grounds for legal action". It is showing clearly that it will be not allowed that any progress on this murder case will be achieved.
The sad conclusion of lawyers Cetin and Tuna is that the investigation can not be solved by the means that could be observed until the present.
